Pierce Brosnan and Christine Baranski have revealed that Colin Firth insisted on placing a sock down his trousers when he was told he was going to wear spandex for the grand finale of the Mamma Mia! sequel.
It was great, and part of what was so great was the three of them – Stellan and Colin and Pierce, although not Pierce so much but the other men – they come in and complain bitterly about their spandex, Christine tells to Metro.co.uk.
What did Colin say? He asked, because of the humiliation of wearing the spandex, could he at least put a sock down his…, she laughs, trailing off before Pierce adds: Really, there was a lot of sock acting.
Well, now thats a fun visual for when we all see the movie.
The grand finale in the sequel, released ten years after the original, sees all the cast come together for a rendition of Super Trouper – and for many of the cast, its the first time they appear on screen together.
That was fun though, as it was all of us together, the young actors and, shall we call ourselves the legacy cast? that means the older actors, we had a blast, all dressed up, says Christine.
Colin Firth in Mamma Mia 2There was mild panic though, reveals Pierce, as they paired us off and said “okay now younger Sam (played by Jeremy Irvine) and older Sam, you make up your own dance”, and so we all had to come up something inventive and entertaining, and I think we acquitted ourselves.
Colin refused to do anything, he just let his younger self dance around him! jokes Christine
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is out on 20 July.
