EastEnders is set to air the dramatic exit of troubled teenager Hunter Owen this year following the death of Ray Kelly at his hands – but not before a huge set of twists.
Since he arrived a year ago, the character has been at the centre of some intense scenes including tricking Louise Mitchell into losing her virginity on camera in footage he sent to her dad Phil and questioning whether he is a psychopath.
Things came to a head at new year when he stepped in to save his mum Mel from a vengeful Ray after the wedding day fell to pieces. Viewers saw Hunter shoot Ray dead and Mel has vowed to help her son cover up the crime.
In upcoming episodes, things will explode again when Jack Branning executes it for Hunter to apprehended but it remains to be seen whether this forms the basis for his Walford departure.
An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed Charlie Winters exit from the show, stating: We can confirm Charlie Winter is leaving and wish him all the best for the future.
An insider added to Digital Spy: Bosses are staying tight lipped on exactly how Hunter exits Walford, but after he shot Ray dead at New Year, it promises to be dramatic.
Hunter will be on our screens for a while yet and there is still a lot more drama to come as he and his mum are faced with the fallout of his actions.
Hunter is Charlies first professional acting role but the young star also performs under his rap alter ego Chaz, recently teasing his first music video entitled Cheeky Chappy Flow.
The announcement of his exit comes amid a wave of casting announcements for EastEnders from new boss Kate Oates, including Chantelle Taylor, Iqra and Habiba Ahmed and the return of Lola Pearce.
