Hailee Steinfeld has allegedly been offered the role of Kate Bishop in the upcoming Disney+ series Hawkeye.
Kate is a member of the Young Avengers and will be seen on screen taking up the mantle of Hawkeye from Clint Barton after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
The young woman is the third character and first female to take the Hawkeye name, after Clint of the Avengers and Wyatt McDonald of the Squadron Supreme.
The news was first reported by Variety who added it would be reasonable to assume that the Bishop character would eventually spin off into either her own standalone series or even appear in the MCU.
A number of shows based on characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are already lined up for Disneys streaming service, including Tom Hiddlestons Loki, Elizabeth Olsens Scarlet Witch, Anthony Mackies The Falcon and Sebastian Stans Winter Soldier.
The Hawkeye show will be a limited series – expected to be six to eight episodes – and will focus on Jeremy Renners Clint passing the Hawkeye mantel to Kate.
